The Sifter soya milk plant consists of simple processing technology. It provides soymilk plant with two provisions one being the soymilk plant with out deodorizer, other being the soymilk plant with deodorizer. The deodorizer used to eliminates the "beany" off-flavor of the soymilk. The processing method with out de-odorizer uses the principle of heat treatment for eliminating the "beany" off-flavor while the deodorization technology uses the principle of vacuum for deodorization.

PROCESS

7 -8 litre of soymilk can be made from 1 kg dry and clean soya beans. The soya seed shall be first cleaned in a seed cleaner to remove the foreign particles from it. Then the soya bean is soaked in the soaking tank. The soaking time varies from 4-12 hrs depending upon the climatic condition. It take around 4-6 hrs (25°C-35°C) during summer while it take 8-12 hrs ( 12-20°C) during winter. The soaked soya bean is then passes through grinder-cooker, where it is ground and cooked by direct steam injection from boiler. After grinding and cooking the slurry is transferred to the filter press for extracting the milk, the process where de-odorizer is not used else the slurry should passes to the deodorization unit. Deodorization takes place by vacuum. Then the slurry is collected and pressed in filter press for obtaining the soymilk. The residue left in the filter press is called okara. For making tofu the hot soyamilk obtained from the process is coagulated by adding acid and pressing it in tofu press. The hot milk thus obtained in both the process are chilled in a chilling unit and packed in poly pouch and stored in refrigerated condition.
